The most common cancerous lesions are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"270\">Scaly<\/span> intraepithelial lesions (SIL, also known as vulvar intraepithelial neoplasia or VIN)<\/li>\n<li>Extramammary Paget&#039;s disease<\/li>\n<li>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"612\">Invader<\/span> vulva <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"30\">Cancer<\/span> (squamous cells <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"32\">carcinoma<\/span>)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Picazon-debido-a-neuropatia\"><\/span>Itching due to <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"400\">neuropathy<\/span><br \/>\n<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Neuropathy should be considered a cause of vulvar itching if there are no signs of infection or skin disease other than lichen simplex, which may be secondary to a <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"244\">pruritus<\/span> neuropathy, especially if vulvodynia is present. Neuropathy can be caused by injury, surgery, or local disease (pudendal entrapment), within the pelvis, or in the spine.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFCuales-son-las-caracteristicas-clinicas-de-una-vulva-con-picazon\"><\/span>What are the clinical features of an itchy vulva?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The clinical features depend on the underlying cause of the vulvar itching. There may be an obvious or subtle <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"255\">eruption<\/span> or there are no signs of illness at all.<\/p>\n<p>In evaluating the cause, it is essential to determine the precise location of the symptoms. The itch often only affects one anatomical part of the vulva:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Convex and thigh areas: irritating contact dermatitis due to urinary incontinence (usually <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"279\">symmetrical<\/span> incontinence-associated dermatitis) or, rarely, allergic contact dermatitis (<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"16\">asymmetric<\/span>)<\/li>\n<li>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"970\">Push-ups<\/span>: seborrheic, nonspecific or candida dermatitis <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"151\">intertrigo<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<li>Mons pubis: seborrheic dermatitis, folliculitis\n<\/li>\n<li>Majora&#039;s lip: genital psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, lichen simplex<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"292\">unilateral<\/span> or <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"23\">bilateral<\/span>)<\/li>\n<li>Lips minor: lichen sclerosus, lichen planus\n<\/li>\n<li>Vaginal introitus: <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"537\">erosive<\/span> lichen planus <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"809\">atrophic<\/span> vulvovaginitis, vaginal discharge, or infection<\/li>\n<li>Perineum: dermatitis, lichen sclerosus\n<\/li>\n<li>Anywhere: neoplasm<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Itchiness can also involve others <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1351\">adjacent<\/span> skin of the abdomen, thighs and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1192\">perianal<\/span> zone.<\/p>\n<p>An examination can reveal healthy skin, scratch marks (<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"501\">excoriations<\/span>) and the specific characteristics associated with the underlying cause of the itch.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"187\">Morphology<\/span> can be modified according to the site, with a minimum <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"320\">scale<\/span> evident.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Candida albicans vaginitis causes thick white vaginal discharge, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"90\">erythema<\/span>and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"201\">edema<\/span>; Candida vulvitis causes superficial red satellite <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"366\">papules<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1016\">pustules<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"63\">peeling<\/span> and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"536\">erosions<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Candida can also cause subtle <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1772\">fissure<\/span> and subclinical dermatitis.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Viral warts are grouped together as mild condylomas.<\/li>\n<li>Acute irritant contact dermatitis can be shiny, waxy, or scalded.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Genital or <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"497\">flexural<\/span> psoriasis has symmetrical <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"37\">circumscribed<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"967\">erythematous<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"368\">plates<\/span>but rarely are <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"385\">scaly<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Seborrheic dermatitis presents with salmon pink, poorly defined patches, sometimes slight <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"95\">exfoliation<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Allergic contact dermatitis can have a varied morphology, but tends to be asymmetric, intermittent.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Lichen simplex is presented as <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"544\">confluent<\/span> thickened papules with broken hairs.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Lichen sclerosus usually has white patches, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"76\">ecchymosis<\/span> and erosions.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>Lichen planus may present as <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1190\">violaceous<\/span> or <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"815\">hyperpigmented<\/span> papules with a white <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1343\">lattice<\/span> red (thighs), appear similar to lichen sclerosus; erosive lichen planus causes pain <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"303\">well defined<\/span> red spots and erosions on the introitus \/ vagina and is generally not itchy.<\/li>\n<li>A squamous intraepithelial or invasive <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"164\">injury<\/span> should be considered if there is a loner <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"235\">license plate<\/span> with irregular shape, structure, surface and color.
