Results from both studies showed that adults using Mirvaso demonstrated significantly greater improvement in facial redness from rosacea than the vehicle gel. In addition, a long-term study was also conducted in 276 subjects who used topical brimonidine gel for up to 12 months.<\/p>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\">\n<div class=\"box-placement square-placement\">\n<div class=\"advert__frame\">\n<div id=\"dermnet-dermnet-mobbox\">\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Estudios-a-corto-plazo-1-y-2\"><\/span>Short-term studies 1 and 2<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Both studies were randomized, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1750\">double-blind<\/span>, vehicle-controlled clinical trials.<\/li>\n<li>The trials included 553 subjects aged 18 years and over with persistent moderate or severe rosacea facial erythema.<\/li>\n<li>Patients were treated once a day for 4 weeks with topical gel or Mirvaso vehicle.<\/li>\n<li>Overall, 99% of the subjects were Caucasian and 76% were female.<\/li>\n<li>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1747\">Base<\/span> severity of disease was scored using a 5-point Clinical Erythema Assessment (CEA) <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"320\">scale<\/span> and a 5-point patient self-assessment scale (PSA), in which the subjects obtained \u201cmoderate\u201d or \u201csevere\u201d scores on both scales.<\/li>\n<li>the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"949\">primary<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"914\">effectiveness<\/span> The end point in both pivotal trials was 2-degree composite success, defined as the proportion of subjects with a 2-degree improvement in CEA and PSA measured at hours 3, 6, 9, and 12 on day 29.<\/li>\n<li>In addition to day 29, efficacy was assessed on day 15 and day 1.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The key use other rosacea therapies.<\/li>\n<li>A total of 276 subjects applied topical brimonidine gel for at least one year.<\/li>\n<li>The most common <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"909\">adverse events<\/span> reported flushing (10%), erythema (8%), increased rosacea (5%), <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1222\">nasopharyngitis<\/span> (5%), burning sensation on the skin (4%), increased
