plaque psoriasis is the most common presentation of psoriasis. It comes as small to large, well-<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"811\">demarcated<\/span>, Red, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"385\">scaly<\/span> and thickened areas of the skin. It is most likely to affect the elbows, knees, and lower back, but it can arise anywhere on the body.<\/p>\n<p>It tends to be a relatively persistent or chronic pattern of psoriasis that can improve with treatment, but is difficult to completely eliminate with <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1330\">current<\/span> treatments alone. It is characterized by large flat areas (<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"368\">plates<\/span>) of psoriasis with a typical silvery <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"320\">scale<\/span>. These plaques can coalesce to involve very large areas of skin, particularly on the trunk and extremities. It is often accompanied by scalp and nail psoriasis.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Tipos-de-psoriasis-en-placas-cronica\"><\/span>Types of chronic plaque psoriasis<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Most cases of plaque psoriasis are described as \u201cbig plaque\u201d or \u201csmall plaque\u201d psoriasis. Most psoriasis patients find ultraviolet light very helpful for their psoriasis. A small group experience <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1566\">exacerbations<\/span> from them <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"255\">eruption<\/span> after sun exposure. Clear &#039;sunburn&#039; lines are sometimes seen in these people. They may also have typical plaque psoriasis in other places.
