It is capable of arising wherever smooth muscle is present. One form of leiomyoma arises from uterine smooth muscle, and is also known as uterine fibroids.  <\/p>\n<p><span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"47\">Cutaneous<\/span> Leiomyomas can be classified into three types:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Piloleiomyoma<\/li>\n<li>Angioleiomyoma<\/li>\n<li>Genital leiomyoma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Each type arises from smooth muscle in specific tissues or organs and has distinct clinical or clinical characteristics. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"474\">histological<\/span> features.<\/p>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Piloleiomioma\"><\/span>Piloleiomyoma<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It originates from the retractor pili muscle of the pilosebaceous unit.  <\/li>\n<li>Single or multiple injuries.<\/li>\n<li>Multiple lesions can occur sporadically or are inherited together with uterine fibroids in a <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"828\">autosomal<\/span> dominant pattern as part of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1745\">hereditary<\/span> leiomyomatosis and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"896\">renal<\/span> cell <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"30\">Cancer<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"350\">syndrome<\/span> or as part of Reed&#039;s syndrome (multiple cutaneous and uterine leiomyomatosis)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Angioleiomioma\"><\/span>Angioleiomyoma<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Originate in <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"753\">vascular<\/span> smooth wall muscle tissue<\/li>\n<li>Typically occurs as a loner <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"164\">injury<\/span>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Leiomioma-genital\"><\/span>Genital leiomyoma<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>It originates from the dartos muscle in the scrotum or labia majora, or from the erectile muscle in the nipples.<\/li>\n<li>Typically occurs as a solitary injury<\/li>\n<li>Less common cutaneous leiomyoma<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFQuien-contrae-leiomiomas\"><\/span>Who gets leiomyomas?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Uterine leiomyomas represent 95% of all reported leiomyomas. Cutaneous leiomyomas account for 75% of all extrauterine leiomyomas.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"578\">Incidence<\/span> it is largely unrelated to race.<\/li>\n<li>Most solitary cutaneous leiomyomas occur in adulthood. Multiple piloleiomyomas usually occur between the ages of 10 and 30.<\/li>\n<li>Excluding <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"829\">autosomal dominant<\/span> syndromes, the incidence of piloleiomyoma is equal in men and women. Angioleiomyomas are generally more common in women than men (2: 1) although cavernous and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1178\">venous<\/span> The subtypes are more common in men.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\">\n<div class=\"box-placement square-placement\">\n<div class=\"advert__frame\">\n<div id=\"dermnet-dermnet-mobbox\">\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFCuales-son-las-caracteristicas-clinicas-de-los-leiomiomas\"><\/span>What are the clinical features of leiomyomas?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Leiomyomas are often painful.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Pain can be spontaneous or triggered by physical and \/ or emotional stimuli, including temperature or cold pressure. Menstruation or pregnancy can also act as triggers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Piloleiomiomas\"><\/span>Piloleiomyomas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Likely to present with associated pain<\/li>\n<li>Typically cuddly, mobile <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"815\">hyperpigmented<\/span> or reddish brown <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"367\">nodules<\/span> (\u2264 2 cm in diameter) with a smooth surface and firm consistency<\/li>\n<li>Solitary lesions typically on the lower extremities, while multiple piloleiomyomas appear anywhere in a variety of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"69\">distribution<\/span> patterns<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Angioleiomiomas\"><\/span>Angioleiomyomas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>60% reported to be painful<\/li>\n<li>Tenderness is less common than in piloleiomyomas.<\/li>\n<li>All right <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"37\">circumscribed<\/span>, skin color, solitary nodules \u2264 4 cm in diameter, usually found on the lower legs. Uncommon on the head, trunk, hands or mouth.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Leiomiomas-genitales\"><\/span>Genital leiomyomas<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Typically not tender and painless<\/li>\n<li>Firm, solitary, skin-colored, mobile. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"198\">nodule<\/span> about him <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1004\">vulva<\/span>, scrotum or nipple. Each type of <a class=\"wpil_keyword_link\" href=\"https:\/\/drhoogstra.com.ar\/wiki\/leiomioma\/\" title=\"leiomyoma\">leiomyoma<\/a> has unique characteristics. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"128\">histology<\/span>.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFComo-se-tratan-los-leiomiomas\"><\/span>How are leiomyomas treated?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Surgical <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"848\">excision<\/span> It is the definitive treatment for individual injuries. Multiple cutaneous leiomyomas have a high rate of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1074\">reappearance<\/span> (~ 50%) in weeks or years, especially if it is part of HLRCC or Reed syndrome.<\/p>\n<p>Medical treatment is not curative, but nifedipine, phenoxybenzamine, and gabapentin can relieve pain. <\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es un leiomioma?
