It has been estimated that more than 90% of adults over 60 have one or more of them. They occur in men and women of all races, usually beginning to erupt in the 1930s or 1940s. They are rare under the age of 20.<\/p>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\"><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFQue-causa-las-queratosis-seborreicas\"><\/span>What causes seborrheic keratoses?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The exact cause of seborrheic keratoses is not known.<\/p>\n<p>The name is misleading, because they are not limited to a seborrheic <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"69\">distribution<\/span> (scalp, mid-face, chest, upper back) as in seborrheic <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"53\">dermatitis<\/span>, nor are they formed from <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"262\">sebaceous<\/span> glands, such as sebaceous <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"136\">hyperplasia<\/span>nor are they associated with <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"898\">tallow<\/span> - Which is greasy.<\/p>\n<p>Seborrheic keratoses are considered <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1600\">degenerative<\/span> in nature. As time passes, seborrheic keratoses become more numerous. Some people inherit a tendency to develop a large number of them. The researchers have noted:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Eruptive seborrheic keratoses can follow sunburn or dermatitis.<\/li>\n<li>Friction of the skin may be the reason why they appear in the folds of the body.<\/li>\n<li>\n<p>The viral cause (eg, Human Papillomavirus) seems unlikely.<\/li>\n<li>Stable and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1678\">clone<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"871\">mutations<\/span> o activation of FRFR3, PIK3CA, RAS, AKT1 and EGFR <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"775\">genes<\/span> They are found in seborrheic keratoses.<\/li>\n<li>Seborrheic keratosis can arise from solar lentigo.<\/li>\n<li>FRFR3 mutations also arise in solar <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1394\">lentigines<\/span>.
