class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>  blue <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"354\">naevi<\/span> They are <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"22\">benign<\/span> lesions that often appear in childhood or adolescence. Blue nevi and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"52\">dermal<\/span> Melanocytoses are believed to be the result of dermal arrest of precursor cells migrating from the neural crest in a manner similar to <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1036\">congenital<\/span> naevi. GNAQ \/ GNA11 <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"871\">mutations<\/span> They have recently been found in various forms of blue nevi. The causal cells are dendritic. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"181\">melanocytes<\/span>, which are bipolar or stellate and have long dendritic processes. Pure blue common nevi should not involve <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"85\">epidermis<\/span>. the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"43\">connective tissue<\/span> around the melanocytes is generally <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1342\">sclerotic<\/span>, sometimes deeply, when described as a scleral blue nevus. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1450\">Aggregation<\/span> of melanocytes on <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"14\">appendices<\/span> and neurovascular bundles are common. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1826\">Melanophages<\/span> They are also usually present in large numbers, partially explaining the blue clinical presentation.<\/p>\n<p>Uncommon, dendritic melanocytes do not produce melanin (<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1061\">amelanotic<\/span> blue nevus). These cases can cause diagnostic confusion due to their morphological similarity to dermatofibroma or extremely difficult. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1662\">desmoplastic<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1670\">melanoma<\/span> (figure 3). Instead of thin dendritic melanocytes, cells in an epithelioid blue nevus are large, round, and pale in color. <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"838\">cytoplasm<\/span> (Figure 4). the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"956\">cellular<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"187\">morphology<\/span> may be difficult to appreciate without bleaching the section to remove the copious melanin <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"231\">pigment<\/span>. the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"729\">nuclei<\/span> are generally uniform without <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1536\">mitotic<\/span> exercise. Actually yes <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1535\">mitosis<\/span> are easy to find, the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"164\">injury<\/span> It is more likely to be an unusual melanoma.<\/p>\n<p>Patients with Carney complex can develop multiple blue epithelioid nevi. Some of these lesions are called animal melanoma, because they resemble the melanoma seen in animals. The superficial <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1282\">subcutis<\/span> It is also often involved. The architecture is a fairly distinctive mass composed of a lobular tongue or tongues in the deep dermis (Figure 6). Cell density is noticeably higher compared to regular blue nevi. They are sometimes confused clinically with Mongolian spots. They can measure up to 10 cm and are usually congenital.<\/p>\n<p>Interestingly <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"895\">proliferative<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"367\">nodules<\/span> sometimes they occur in plaque-like blue nevi. The nodules resemble epithelioids or, less commonly, cellular blue nevi. The only times we have seen biopsies of plaque-like blue nevus were cases in which these nodules arose and there was clinical concern of evolving melanoma.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Nevus-combinado\"><\/span>Combined nevus<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The term combined nevus is used to describe two or more distinct nevi cell elements, or neural crest lines <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1307\">differentiation<\/span>, in a single <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"785\">melanocytic<\/span> nevus. For example, some nevi may have components of a <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1829\">dysplastic<\/span> nevus, blue nevus, Spitz nevi and congenital nevi within the same lesion. Combined nevi can be problematic, especially when there is a Spitz component or <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1678\">clone<\/span> epithelioid cells, as they can mimic melanoma that develops in a nevus (Figure 7).
