<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1123\">gel<\/span> in hyaluronic acid?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1330\">Current<\/span> 3% diclofenac gel in 2.5% hyaluronic acid (Solaraze\u00ae, Bioglan Pharma, Florida, USA) is used as a field treatment for <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1144\">actinic <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1596\">keratosis<\/span><\/span>  (AK) It is available in the US, Canada, and several European Union countries, but is not marketed in New Zealand (2015).<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFComo-funciona-el-gel-de-diclofenaco\"><\/span>How does diclofenac gel work?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>The active ingredient in the gel, diclofenac sodium, is a non-steroidal anti-steroid.<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"490\">inflammatory<\/span> drug (<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"199\">NSAID<\/span>) <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"635\">NSAID<\/span> provide <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1413\">anti-inflammatory<\/span> and <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"702\">anti-<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1264\">neoplastic<\/span><\/span>  (anti-<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"30\">Cancer<\/span>) Benefits.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>How diclofenac gel works in the treatment of AK is not fully understood.<\/li>\n<li>Diclofenac is a powerful inhibitor of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1647\">inducible<\/span> cyclooxygenase (COX-2), resulting in reduced prostaglandin synthesis.<\/li>\n<li>Sun damage and AKs have been linked to elevated prostaglandins in <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"311\">exposed skin<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\">\n<div class=\"box-placement square-placement\">\n<div class=\"advert__frame\">\n<div id=\"dermnet-dermnet-mobbox\">\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFComo-se-administra-el-gel-de-diclofenaco\"><\/span>How is diclofenac gel given?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Treatment is usually done during the winter months. Diclofenac gel is for use on the skin only and contact with the eyes should be avoided.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The gel should be stored at room temperature.<\/li>\n<li>Determine which areas should be treated with diclofenac gel. The amount of diclofenac gel needed depends on the size of the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"164\">injury<\/span> site.<\/li>\n<li>Typically 0.5 g of gel (one finger unit) is used at each 5 cm x 5 cm site of injury.<\/li>\n<li>No additional gel should be applied if an application is missed.<\/li>\n<li>The gel is applied twice a day for 60 to 90 days and then suspended.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Despues-del-tratamiento\"><\/span>After treatment<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Wash your hands after applying diclofenac gel.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid exposure to the sun, sunscreens, cosmetics, and other topical medications.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Keratoses may continue to improve for up to 30 days after stopping treatment. Any injury that does not respond to treatment should be reevaluated.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Precauciones-al-usar-diclofenaco-en-gel-para-queratosis-actinicas\"><\/span>Precautions when using diclofenac gel for actinic keratoses<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Diclofenac sodium gel should not be used or used with caution in patients with any of the following conditions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Known <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"943\">hypersensitivity<\/span> to diclofenac, benzyl alcohol, polyethylene glycol monomethyl ether 350 and \/ or sodium hyaluronate.<\/li>\n<li>Sensitivity or <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1136\">allergy<\/span> to aspirin<\/li>\n<li>Active peptic <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"290\">ulcer<\/span> or a severe kidney or liver disorder.<\/li>\n<li>Open skin wound or infected skin.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1013\">Anaphylactoid<\/span> Reactions may occur in patients without prior exposure to diclofenac.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Posibles-interacciones-farmacologicas-con-gel-de-diclofenaco\"><\/span>Possible pharmacological interactions with diclofenac gel<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>No specific interaction studies have been conducted between diclofenac sodium gel and other topical or oral agents.<\/li>\n<li>Some diclofenac enters the bloodstream after application to the skin.<\/li>\n<li>There is an increased risk of adverse effects if NSAIDs or aspirin are taken orally at the same time.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\">\n<div class=\"box-placement square-placement\">\n<div class=\"advert__frame\">\n<div id=\"dermnet-dermnet-mobbox\">\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Que-eventos-adversos-Que-puede-causar-el-gel-de-diclofenaco\"><\/span>Than <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"909\">adverse events<\/span> What can diclofenac gel cause?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In general, adverse events have been mild to moderate in severity. The most common reported adverse events (&gt; 1%) are application site reactions, including itching, dry skin, redness, and contact <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"53\">dermatitis<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Uso-en-embarazo\"><\/span>Use in pregnancy<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The safety of diclofenac sodium gel has not been established during pregnancy.<\/li>\n<li>Diclofenac should not be used during pregnancy unless the benefits to the mother justify the potential risk to the fetus.<\/li>\n<li>Diclofenac should be avoided in late pregnancy because premature closure of the fetal ductus arteriosus may occur.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Uso-en-madre-lactante\"><\/span>Use in a nursing mother<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Many drugs are excreted in human milk. It is not known whether diclofenac or its <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"717\">metabolites<\/span> they are excreted in human milk.<\/li>\n<li>Nursing mothers should avoid using diclofenac gel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Pediatrico-utilizar\"><\/span>\n<span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"919\">Pediatric<\/span> use<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>The safety and efficacy of diclofenac gel have not been established in children.<\/li>\n<li>Actinic keratoses rarely affect children.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"grey-box\"><em><span style=\"font-size: 0.9em;\">New Zealand approved data sheets are the official source of information for these prescription drugs, including approved uses and risk information.
