A closer inspection identifies the material in process <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"287\">transepidermal<\/span> elimination (figure 2). This is a secondary phenomenon that is not infrequently found in lesions of the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"243\">prurigo<\/span> nodularis Wide areas of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"846\">epidermal<\/span> erosion with <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1351\">adjacent<\/span> epidermal <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"136\">hyperplasia<\/span> and oriented vertically <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"52\">dermal<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"102\">fibrosis<\/span> indicating <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"319\">chronic<\/span> Prurigo are clues to the underlying cause. Also, the extruded fibers are collagen and will be negative with EVG staining.<\/p>\n<p>Kyrle&#039;s disease: In this condition, the material that is &quot;perforated&quot; is a strictly inflammatory residue of the dermis and not collagen or elastic tissue.
