<\/span><\/h2>\nEruptive xanthoma occurs as rose cultures papules<\/span> which are often pruritus<\/span>. It occurs as a result of high concentrations of plasma<\/span> triglycerides<\/span>. Many patients have uncontrolled diabetes. Xanthomas usually go away when the underlying condition is treated.<\/p>\n<\/span>\nHistology<\/span> of eruptive xanthoma<\/span><\/h2>\nIn eruptive xanthoma, the dermis<\/span> contains a dense population of foam histiocytes<\/span> (histiocytes filled with lipid<\/span> material as well as extracellular lipid (Figures 1-3). <\/span>Special studies for eruptive xanthoma<\/span><\/h2>\nGenerally none is needed. Special spots to highlight lipids. statement<\/span> they have been described but are rarely needed.<\/p>\n<\/span>\nDifferential diagnosis<\/span> for eruptive xanthoma<\/span><\/h2>\nThere is a wide range of conditions that result in the accumulation of foamy histiocytes in the dermis and can simulate eruptive xanthoma. The correct diagnosis is generally confirmed by correlating the characteristics of the biopsy<\/span> with the clinical presentation and serological findings.<\/p>\nOther xanthomatous conditions include:<\/p>\n
\n- \nInfection<\/span> - the pathology<\/span> Leprosy may show a buildup of foamy histiocytes in the dermis. Special stains for the deceased. organisms<\/span> (Mycobacterium leprae<\/em>) can be useful in difficult cases<\/li>\n
- Other xanthomas: These are generally easily excluded with clinical presentation. It is unusual in other forms of xanthoma to see the degree of extracellular lipids and the acute inflammatory response observed in the eruptive xanthoma.<\/li>\n
