These herpes viruses have only been identified in recent years, and we are still learning about the full range of diseases caused by them.<\/p>\n<p>Roseola is characterized by high <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1176\">fever<\/span> Lasts 3-5 days, runny nose, irritability, and tiredness. Most children (86%) will have had roseola by the age of 1 year. Roseola is rarely seen in adults, since <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"145\">infection<\/span> during childhood it will probably confer lifelong immunity to the disease. Repeated attacks are known to occur, but are not common.<\/p>\n<div id=\"square-placement-country-holder\" class=\"country-dependent advert\">\n<div class=\"box-placement square-placement\">\n<div class=\"advert__frame\">\n<div id=\"dermnet-dermnet-mobbox\">\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFComo-se-contagia-la-roseola\"><\/span>How is roseola spread?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Roseola is transmitted from person to person through the saliva of <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"731\">asymptomatic<\/span> members of the family. the <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1618\">incubation<\/span> The period for roseola is approximately 9-10 days after exposure.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFCuales-son-los-signos-y-sintomas-de-la-roseola\"><\/span>What are the signs and symptoms of roseola?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>In many cases of roseola, the child looks good with little or no signs or symptoms. Typical cases are characterized by the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>High fever (often up to 40 C) for 3 to 5 days.<\/li>\n<li>Symptoms of the upper respiratory tract, such as a sore throat, cough, runny nose, or congestion.<\/li>\n<li>Irritability and tiredness.<\/li>\n<li>The rash appears around days 3-5, as the fever subsides\n<ul>\n<li>Usually small pinkish pink or red dots (2\u20135 mm in diameter) that <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1172\">whiten<\/span> (turns white) when touched<\/li>\n<li>Some spots may be surrounded by a lighter halo of pale skin<\/li>\n<li>It mainly affects the trunk and rarely extends to involve the neck, face, arms, and legs.<\/li>\n<li>Similar spots appear on the soft palate and uvula (Nagayama spots)<\/li>\n<li>Does not itch, does not hurt and does not blister<\/li>\n<li>It can disappear in a few hours or persist for two days.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In some cases, a child may be infected with the virus and never develop the rash. Less often, the rash may appear without a previous fever. In most cases, particularly if the fever is low, the child is fine. The disease is usually mild and self-limiting. Rest, fluid intake, and acetaminophen for fever are all that is generally required. No treatment for the rash is necessary as it does not itch or hurt and spontaneously fade away.<\/p>\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"%C2%BFCuales-son-las-complicaciones-de-la-roseola\"><\/span>What are the complications of roseola?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Complications are rare with roseola in most children. The most common complication is febrile seizures \/ convulsions that can occur in 5 to 15% of children. These are triggered by high roseola fevers and can be alarming when they are first seen. Signs of a febrile seizure include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Loss of consciousness<\/li>\n<li>Sudden or jerky movements in the arms, legs, or face for 2 to 3 minutes.<\/li>\n<li>Wet or dirty pants on an unconscious child, trained to go to the bathroom<\/li>\n<li>Irritability<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These seizures are brief and not dangerous. However, you should have a doctor examine your child if one occurs.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"349\">Acute<\/span> <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"716\">encephalitis<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1801\">hepatitis<\/span>, <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"1049\">myocarditis<\/span>hemophagocytic <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"350\">syndrome<\/span> and mononucleosis-like infectious disease occurs very rarely.<\/p>\n<p>Reactivation of HHV-6 in immunosuppressed patients or in association with drug <span class=\"term\" data-term-id=\"943\">hypersensitivity<\/span> the syndrome produces fever, rash, pneumonia, hepatitis, bone marrow suppression, and encephalitis.<\/p>\n<\/section>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00bfQu\u00e9 es la ros\u00e9ola?
