As the skin's natural collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down, hands begin to show signs of aging. Textures can change and veins might begin to get bigger. Wrinkles and thin and translucent skin are also signs of aging hands.
Tips to prevent aging of the hands:
1) Use suitable photo protective products according to the season of the year and the type of skin.
2) Use moisturizers.
3) Use gloves when handling chemicals and cleaning products in general.
Inadequate exposure to sunlight causes premature aging., Favors the production of pigmented lesions (sun spots, solar lentigines). This is because the sun stimulates pigments that are produced by cells, which results in an overproduction. Avoid getting your hands exposed to sunlight, and wear protective clothing when possible. Try to keep your hands away from the windows while driving. Harmful (UV) rays can penetrate glass, which may even amplify the adverse effects (by concentrating the rays like a magnifying glass would do).
Hand spots are difficult to treat, because upper hand skin is thin, the existing technologies so far have produced in many of the patients treated, hypo chromic lesions (light spots or scars).
Today, technological advances can remove safely and effectively any the above mentioned lesions.
Thanks to a novel laser system that is named after the sun god (Helios II). This Frequency doubled Q-switched Nd:YAG laser has two wavelengths (1064 and 532 nm), where 532 wavelength can effectively remove stains from hands in just one session.
Once the spot receives the first laser shot, the spot shifts to a lighter color than the rest of the spots, then it gets a little darker and totally dissapears in two weeks.
During post-treatment the patient must use photo hydration and protection. Both, treatment and post treatment, are not painful and patients can continue with their regular daily activities.

If the patient has wrinkles and sagged hands, there is a new technique these days called Fractional RF SCARLET system. Fractional CO2 Laser is also indicated.
Thick veins in the hands are treated with a technique similar to that used for the lower limb varicose pathology. If the hand has lost a lot of fat and becomes cadaverous, one can choose to make micro autologous fat graft placement or hyaluronic acid which is a natural skin compound that retains water.
