Rosácea.
Rosacea as many other diseases have an hereditary component, but is composed by a series of factors that increase blood flow to the skin.
Causes
These are some of those factors:
1) Labor: great exposure to the sun, ovens, kitchens, saunas etc.
2) Drugs (viagra, corticosteroids, estrogens, antihypertensives)
3) Beverages (hot beverages, alcohol)
4) Meals (spicy meals)

Rosacea usually has evolutionary phases.
At first you only sees a reddening of the patient's face, which is followed by small vasodilations on the nose, cheeks, chin etc. These patients tend to have flash to sun exposure or heated environments. Over time pustule formations can be seen on the nose, cheeks, forehead and chin.
The eyes can also be affected (ocular rosacea), vasodilation observed and no itching and burning sensation.
Rhinophyma, occurs in advanced stages and presents nose deformities in varying degrees. A future article will be devoted exclusively to the treatment of these advances stages.

Prevention
Avoid as far as possible the following factors that stimulate it, such as (sun exposure without adequate protection, saunas, heated environments, spicy foods, alcohol, stress, drugs) Avoid products that are irritating to your skin.

There is no way to eliminate rosacea but there are effective treatments to reduce the signs and symptoms. In most cases it is necessary to combine treatments and the patient must cooperate making changes in her or his lifestyle. The basic treatments include moisturizers, sunscreen protection and other products to improve skin quality.

Medications:
There are topical medications that reduce redness and inflammation. These are often used in conjunction with oral medications as part of a program to control the symptoms. Some medications are topical creams containing metronidazole tretinoinas, benzoyl peroxide, and azelaic acid. These medications usually causes irritation, redness, dryness and a consultation to a professional dermatologist is the best way to handle such situations.

Oral antibiotics:
Depending on the stage, it might be necessary the use of oral antibiotics such as tetracycline or erythromycin. Isotretinoin It is a powerful anti-inflammatory used to reduce sebum production in cystic acne, which is also used when rosacea is an inflammatory component. Patients taking isotretinoin should be monitored by a dermatologist because of the possibility of serious side effects, among which is depression, suicidal thoughts, joint and bone pain, rash. This drug also causes birth defects. Eyes affected by rosacea are commonly treated using steroid drops.

Laser Therapy:
For spider veins (Vascular Telangiectasias) the most modern treatment today is laser therapy. The most commonly used wavelengths for these vascular lesions are 514.5nm, 532nm, 567nm, 585nm, 980nm and 1,064 long pulse.
The laser light passes through the skin without damaging it and discharges its energy into the hemoglobin of the blood vessel; this effect produces a caloric effect and subsequent endothelial damage which collapses the blood vessel, closes it and dissolve it.
The number of treatments depends on the vascular lesion size and number. Generally with 3 to 4 sessions are sufficient. Rosacea is a progressive disease and it will be necessary to repeat this treatment some time later.
Video de tratamiento - VER > When what prevails is erythema (redness) that usually affects both cheeks (butterfly wing erythema) The most frequent treatment was IPL (intense pulsed light). Today we have other, more advanced therapeutic modality which is the Fractional RF thru Micro Needles.
Video de tratamiento - VER > SCARLET is an innovative Bipolar RF technology that is applied through a matrix of Micro Needles (fractional RF), which helps to regenerate the substances that are essential to keep the skin tight and young. Its implementation is simple, painless, fast and does not damage the skin.
The process involves the application of high frequency electromagnetic radiation directly on the areas affected by the rosacea and those showing signs of aging.

SCARLET produces a gradual heating of the skin, causing the closure of the blood vessels and acting on existing collagen fibers, strengthening and producing colagenesis (new collagen formation), causing the contraction of the skin and reducing sagging. During the procedure the patient feels a warm sensation in the treated area, without any discomfort or pain. Skin might get slightly red but it will gradually disappear during the course of the day.
The RF generated by the micro needles will collapse the blood vessels, reduce erythema and produce skin contraction (lifting effect), as it redefines facial contours, lifts the cheekbones, eyebrows, neck and will remodel the facial area.

The results are extraordinary from the start and will improve gradually. No special action is required after the procedure and requires no anesthesia or recovery time. Tanning Beds may be used provided adequate protection.

The result is evident from the first session; you will immediately achieve the contraction of blood vessels and stimulation of the existing collagen. A second session will increase this improvement, obtaining maximum results around the first three months.

Suggested Sessions: 1 every 15 or 30 days, for 4 or 5 months
