Bacteria in acne.

How to do bacteria affect acne?

Bacteria contribute to inflammatory acne lesions, although acne is not an infectious disease.

At puberty, the number of bacteria on the surface of the skin increases. These include:

  • Cutibacterium acnes (C. acnes, formally known as Propionibacterium acnes)
  • Corynebacterium granulosum (also known as Cutibacterium acnes and formally known as Propionibacterium granulosum)
  • Staphylococcus epidermidis (coagulase-Negative staphylococcus).

The number of malassezia yeasts is probably also increasing.

However, the severity of a person's acne does not depend on the amount of bacteria on the surface of the skin or on the sebaceous ducts (the passage of the sebaceous glands).

The number and activity of C. acnes bacteria vary based on oxygen supply, nutrient supply, and pH skin level. Some acne injury are colonized by C. acnes and others don't.

the C. acnes bacteria can produce active enzymes and innate inflammatory mediators and these can contribute to acne activity in some patients. Activation triggers the expression of the immune response genes. Inflammatory mediators detected in acne lesions colonized by C. acnes include:

  • Lipases (enzymes that break down fats)
  • Proteases (enzymes that break down proteins)
  • Hyaluronate lyaseenzyme that breaks the skin soil substance)
  • Phosphatase (enzyme that breaks down phosphates)
  • Smooth muscle contraction substances
  • Cytokines, like IL-12 and IL-8, and defensins (these are chemical messengers).

Lipases can convert triglycerides in tallow to release fatty acids. Free fatty acids increase the accumulation of bacteria in the sebaceous ducts and, therefore, the colonization of the ducts by more of them. Inflammatory mediators caused by the bacteria penetrate the surrounding skin and are a cause of inflammation.

What is the effect of the treatment on acne bacteria?

Antimicrobial how current benzoyl peroxide and oral tetracyclines suppress C. acnes in acne patients. They also have no antibiotic anti-inflammatory exercise.
