Hibernoma is derived from brown fat. Occur in the subcutaneous or deeper soft tissues.
Histology from hibernoma
The sections show a very characteristic injury composed of cells with a marked increase cytoplasm full of vacuoles of course and eosinophilic granules (Figures 1, 2).

Special studies for hibernoma
Generally none is needed. Cytogenetics Hibernoma studies have shown deletions in chromosomes 10 and 11 but are not necessary for diagnosis.
Differential diagnosis from hibernoma pathology
Normal brown fat: Brown fat can be seen incidentally in pediatric soft tissues. Physiological brown fat does not form a discreet mass.
Granular cell tumorRhabdomyomas: These tumors contain eosinophilic granules in the cytoplasm. Intracytoplasm Vacuoles are not seen in these tumors.
