Pathology of melanocytic matricoma

Melanocytic the matrix is a rare tumor which is presented as a small strongly pigmented tumor. Clinically mimics nodular melanoma, hemangioma and other pigmented tumors. Until now, these tumors have exhibited a benign clinical course.

Histology of melanocytic matricoma

The sections through the melanocytic matrix show a goodcircumscribed dermal tumor that can invade and erode the overlying layer epidermis (Figure 1). There is heavy melanin statement. The tumor is made up of basaloid cells with some nuclear pleomorphism and conspicuous mitotic exercise. Intermixed with these epithelial cells are a dendritic population melanocytes (Figures 1-4). There is focal "Ghost cell" keratinization (Figures 5, 6).

Curb The spots confirm that the tumor is epithelial (rather than melanoma). Melanocytic spots demonstrate a population of intertwined dendritic melanocytes.

Differential diagnosis of melanocytic matricoma

Melanoma: These tumors can simulate melanoma clinically and histologically (The case illustrated here was initially diagnosed with melanoma both clinically and histologically). Immunohistochemical studies may help to exclude this possibility. Keratinization should not be seen in melanoma.

Basal cell carcinoma - BCC can show matrical focal differentiation. However, other features such as stromal retraction and peripheral the stockade must be seen with BCC.

Evil one matricoma Malignancy in matrix tumors it may be difficult to exclude in small biopsies given the marked pleomorphism and mitosis which are common in benign matrical tumors. Deep invasion necrosis and the large clinical size can be useful features to diagnose a malignant tumor.
