Angiomyofibroblastoma pathology

Introduction

Angiomyofibroblastoma is a benign Soft fabric tumor of the external genitalia.

Histology angiomyofibroblastoma

Microscopic Examination of angiomyofibroblastoma shows goodcircumscribed tumor without capsule and with variable cellularity. Hypocellular areas are collagen (figure 1) or myxoid with some small and medium glasses. The hypercellular areas, located predominantly around the vessels, contain characteristic round / oval cells with relatively uniform nuclei no noticeable atypia (Figure 2). Occasional multinucleated and binucleated cells can be seen.

Special studies for angiomyofibroblastoma

Angiomyofibroblastoma tumor cells are positive with immunohistochemistry for actin Estrogen and progesterone Markers can also be positive.

Differential diagnosis angiomyofibroblastoma pathology

Aggressive angiomyxoma: these are infiltrative tumors and generally much larger (more than 5 cm). Tumors with mixed features of angiomyofibroblastoma and aggressive angiomyxoma have been described, increasing the possibility that these tumors are related.
