Mixed eccrine tumor pathology

Eccrine Mixed tumors are rare. They present as slow growth nodules They generally occur on the head and neck.

Histology eccrine mix tumor

In the eccrine mixed tumor, the sections show small unbranched ducts placed in a fibromucous or chondroid matrix (Figures 1, 2). The tumor is fine circumscribed (figure 2) and based on the dermis or subcutis. The ducts are lined with soft cells that very strongly resemble the syringoma (Figure 3). Unusual described features include cribriform glands, bone metaplasiaand erase cellular changes.

Special studies for mixed eccrine tumor

Generally none is needed.

Differential diagnosis eccrine mixed tumor

Syringoma: these are not established in a fibromucinous or chronodic stroma and generally occupy the superficial dermis

Apocrine mixed tumor: Consists of larger ducts and glands that can branch and mix with mature cartilage
