Actinic granuloma pathology

Introduction

Actinic granulomaIt is also known as O'Brien's granuloma.

Actinic granuloma is believed to be a inflammatory response to extensive sun damage with subsequent degeneration of elastic fibers. Starts as flesh or pink papules which fusion inside cancel plates.

Histology actinic granuloma

In actinic granuloma, sections show a granulomatous reaction involving the markedly elastotic dermis (Figure 1). the giant cells they contain elastic fibers and may be of the foreign body type (Figure 2). There is an associated mix infiltrate.

Special spots on actinic granuloma.

The elastic spots show damaged elastic fibers that are enveloped by giant cells.

Differential diagnosis actinic granuloma

Cancel elastolytic giant cell granuloma - Lacks density dermal elastosis, which is believed to be responsible for the granulomatous reaction. Some of these cases have been considered synonyms for actinic granuloma, which has caused some confusion with the nomenclature.

Granuloma annulare: elastotic remnants are not present in the granulomatous reaction. Instead, there is necrobiosis and mucin statement
