Leukoderma

What is it leukoderma?

Leucoderma is the name given to white spots on the skin. These patches are due to partial or total loss of the skin. pigmentation or depigmentation.

Leukoderma is sometimes spelled leukoderma. Also called achromoderma.

There are many causes of leukoderma, some of which include:

• Congenital
  • Tuberous sclerosis
  • Partial albinism

  • Piebaldism and Waardenburg syndrome

  • Nevus depigmented
• Immunological
  • Vitiligo
  • Melanomaassociated with vitiligo / leucoderma
  • Halo naevus
• Send-inflammatory
  • Thermal burns
  • Dermatitis (eczema)
  • Psoriasis
  • Cutaneous lupus erythematosus
  • Lichen sclerosus
• Infection
  • Pityriasis versicolor
  • Leprosy
  • Lichen planus
  • Syphilis
  • Progressive macular hypopigmentation
• Drugs
  • EGFR inhibitors
  • Immune checkpoint inhibitors (pembrolizumab, nivolumab)
  • Intralesional steroid injections
  • Transdermal methylphenidate patch

• Occupational / chemical

  • Exposure to depigmenting agents, such as p-tert-butylphenol
  • Leukoderma occurs in exposed parts of the body, but other areas that are not necessarily in contact with chemicals can also be affected.
  • Depigmented areas can continue to emerge even after the patient is no longer in contact with the chemicals
  • Repigmentation may or may not occur
